Know Your Vitamin C!
What does Vitamin C do?
As with all other vitamins, your body cannot manufacture vitamin C,
you must get it from outside sources. Your body uses vitamin C for
many things: Most know it helps support your immune system and helps
fight the symptoms associated with colds and flu, but it’s needed
for the production of collagen which gives skin its tone and
structure and your joints their range of motion. What’s more,
vitamin C helps keep blood vessels healthy and protects your vision.
It fortifies your bones and teeth. And it acts as a powerful
antioxidant, protecting healthy cells from free radical damage,
which can lead to premature aging of cells and has been linked to
cancer and heart disease.
What is Ester CŪ?
Ester CŪ is a trademarked name that describes a process whereby
ascorbic acid (vitamin C) has been chemically bound to either
calcium or magnesium. This process creates a non-acidic vitamin C,
so it’s easier on the stomach. A preliminary study suggests that the
natural vitamin C metabolites in Ester CŪ may help it work
differently than regular vitamin C.
Should I take Vitamin C everyday and how much should I take?
Yes! While some only take extra vitamin C during the cold and flu
season (to boost immunity), your body needs this vital nutrient
every day of the year. Most health experts recommend a daily intake
of 500 to 1,000 mg.
