Retinol Creams (over-the-counter) VS.

Retin-A Creams (needs a physician’s prescription)

What’s the difference?

First, let’s establish what these creams are used for:  Basically, they contain the only ingredients (retinoids) that have decades of research proving they can turn around the aging of skin!  Only retinoids have been proven in studies to do everything from smoothing fine lines and fading dark spots to making pores appear smaller.  Dermatologists agree:  Retinoids are the best age erasers.

Retinoids are vitamin A derivatives. They are found in prescription, Retin-A creams (Renova, Avage, or Differin), as well as over-the-counter creams, which are commonly referred to as retinol creams.  Besides their method of procurement there is one basic difference between the two – retinol creams are less irritating to the skin than their prescription cousins.

With over-the-counter retinol creams, the retinol is slowly converted to retinoic acid, which is the active ingredient in prescription creams.  It may simply take more time (up to 12 weeks) to notice a difference in your skin than if you’d been using the prescription variety (4-8 weeks).  You will also notice a difference in your pocket book! Retinol creams are quite a bit less expensive than the prescription creams.

If after 3 months you do not see a difference from using an over-the-counter product, you may want to consider a stronger prescription brand.  One advantage to using a retinol cream before using a prescription strength cream is that it will help your skin acclimate to retinoids.  Therefore, you’ll be less likely to suffer the side effects of the more powerful prescription version.  Many women who start off with the prescription creams, give up before they have a chance to get results, because they cause too much skin irritation.  It’s often beneficial for many to alternate using the over-the-counter and prescription creams on an every other month rotation.

With Brabec Basics retinol cream you can have the best of both worlds – a superbly moisturizing cream that absorbs in the skin quickly and with our special Founder’s Grant – a price that cannot be beaten.  A two-ounce jar contains 200,000 IU of retinol and cost from $3.99 per jar.  It’s perfect for the retinoid rookie or the seasoned professional – to insure the only side effects you see are younger, healthier, more sensational looking skin!

Why does this cost so much less than other bands?

Many of you, familiar with OneLifeUSA, know our founder (my mother) is a 20+ year cancer survivor, and one that was NOT given good odds.  She also founded and funded The Brabec Foundation.

This charitable organization  is her way of 'giving back'.   It is her way of helping others incorporate the importance of good nutrition in the prevention of disease.

Many of you have asked, "How can you offer this great product for this price?".  Alone, OneLife couldn't.  However, in partnership with the Brabec Foundation, this has been made possible.  This is a Brabec Foundation sponsored product.  A portion of its cost has been paid for by this foundation.

With all the positive feedback from those of you who have tried Brabec Basic products, we are excited the Brabec Foundation plans to continue their sponsorship of this product for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for sharing in my Mother's belief:

"Proper nutrition is essential for disease prevention."

   To your health,

                                    Kimberly Puffenbarger,

Why The Brabec Foundation

Has Chosen To Sponsor a

Retinol Cream Product

You may be wondering why a cancer survivor would care to financially support a product known to be an ‘anti-wrinkle’ cream? Good question.
There are a few reasons. First, she believes that it is of the utmost importance for women to care about themselves. Because when they do, they pay more attention to themselves and their health care. The happier a women is with her appearance, the more attention she gives to herself. Maybe then she will care enough to do monthly breast exams, have regular mammograms and yearly check ups.
Secondly, for anyone undergoing chemotherapy, the toll it takes on your skin is tough. Dehydration and discoloration are just a few side effects that occur to skin. These aren’t mentioned much, because compared to the other common side effects: nausea, vomiting, exhaustion, etc…skin issues don’t seem to be a big deal. However, when undergoing chemo, sometimes, looking at yourself in the mirror is a hard thing to do. Anything that you can do to help you feel better about you is a GOOD thing. Keeping your moral up has shown to help make chemo more effective.

The ONLY Proven Wrinkle Cream

There are so many products on the market promising to ‘erase fine lines’; ‘ to make you look 10 years younger’, even to give you “ 90% wrinkle reduction in 7 days’. How do you know which of these claims are legit and which ones were designed just to get into your pocketbook? We’re going to tell you.
WRINKLE REDUCTION and WRINKLE PREVENTION are two very different things. If you want any wrinkle reduction to work, you must address the prevention side. A good, non-oily, sunscreen is a must for your daily routine. Proper cleansing and moisturizing is also part of the deal. You don’t have to spend a fortune on your facial moisturizer, just read the label. Look for some anti-oxidants (vitamins A, C, and E), grapeseed oil is also a great ingredient. Your cream’s consistency should match your needs. If your skin is oily, a light quick absorbing cream is best. If your skin is lacking in moisture, look for a heavier more hydrating formula.
Addressing the wrinkle reduction side of things is next. The bottom line: There is only ONE INGREDIENT that CAN BACK ITS WRINKLE-REDUCING CLAIMS WITH RESEARCH. This ingredient: RETINOL, a derivative of vitamin A. It is the only skin care ingredient that will really make a difference in your wrinkles – and – it’s the one doctors have been touting for years!
Retinol has been proven to increase cell turnover in the deeper layers of the skin. Not only does it act to prevent further loss of collagen, it also helps your skin create more. This action reverses some of the signs of aging and decreases wrinkles.
This fabulous product is not for everyone. Some people just cannot tolerate it. If you find that retinol cream produces redness or itching, use it sparingly and only every third night. Once your skin builds up tolerance to retinol, you can begin to apply it every night.
Even if you tolerate retinol well, it’s best not to use it during the day. Retinol is both photosynthesizing and photodegradable. Applying it before you go out into the sun, can increase skin irritation. Additionally, retinol breaks down in the presence of sunlight, causing it to become less effective.
If you want to help reduce your wrinkles, stick with a proven product. Let retinol cream be your wrinkle reducer and don’t forget about the prevention side of things – sunscreen and moisturizer. You don’t have to spend a fortune.
