Memory Boost
For a Longer Life
The good news about a key ingredient found in
OneLifeUSA’s Memory Boost, just keeps coming in.
The herb, Ginkgo biloba, has been used traditionally for memory
enhancement. A French study published in the March, 2007, issue of
the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, suggests it may also
extend the lives of older people.
This study involved men and women 65 years and older
and looked at a thirteen year period. Results showed that fewer of
those taking Ginkgo biloba had died as compared to those taking
other memory enhancement supplements or a placebo.
The researchers said more studies should to be done to
confirm these results. They are encouraged to note that currently
there are over 5,800 people enrolled in Ginkgo biloba studies in the
United States and Europe, with results expected in 2010.
FEAR NOT,
Supplements Enhance Brain Function
This claimed wonder compound is derived from the Brahmi
plant and has been trademarked as Bacopin™. It is used in Ayurvedic
medicine to improve intellectual function, enhance memory, reduce
stress-induced anxiety and increase concentration. Recently a
well-designed placebo-controlled study in healthy adults found that
Bacopin™ produced significant improvements in learning rate, state
of anxiety, memory consolidation and visual information processing
speed." Amazingly, it has been used in India for more than 3000
years.
The quality of the mind is at the core of the quality
of life. Perhaps the most important asset we possess and wish to
possess as we advance in age, is our mind. If research in the United
States isn’t enough, we need look across the Atlantic Ocean to
Germany and France where Ginkgo Biloba is a registered drug for the
treatment of brain disorders. Or, look to India where their
governments’ Central Drug Research Institute has shown Bacopin to
improve short and long-term memory and to enhance overall cognitive
results. One Life has effectively combined these two powerful
ingredients into one formula: Memory Boost.
There is no known cure for Alzheimer’s ….be proactive
and protect yourself. Spending a few dollars now may save you tens
of thousands on nursing care later. Prevention is always the
preferred method.
Another group of compounds has recently received a good
bit of attention when it comes to brain health: Essential Fatty
Acids. Two important studies (The Rotterdam Study and The
Bordeaux Study) have shown that a high intake of fish (those
rich in omega 3 fatty acids) slows and may prevent the development
of dementia, especially Alzheimer’s dementia. Dr. Morten Bryhn of
Norway, considered one of the leading experts in the field of
medicine which focuses on the link between diet and disease sees a
clear connection between the intake of essential fatty acids and
brain health.
