Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh are telling us
just that;there are nutritional supplements that may make you feel happier.
What’s different about this study is that it is the first to show
possible mood boosting in healthy people (non-depressed people).
This is very different than previous studies that showed less
sadness in people already experiencing depression! This magic supplement?
Omega- 3 fatty acids. Will their wonders
never cease? These researchers measured blood levels of omega-3’s in
106 healthy adults. Then they gave all of them the same
psychological tests. Those with the highest levels of omega-3 scored
the highest, by 49 –58 % better than those with the lowest levels of
omega-3s. Knowing that other studies have linked omega-3 consumption
with lowering levels of depression (in people who were already
experiencing mild to moderate depression), it was interesting to see
a similar mood boosting effect on people who were not depressed. Perhaps eating more salmon or sardines will make you less impulsive,
easier to get along with or happier. You’ll need at least two
servings a week to get the necessary amounts. Don’t like fish,
mercury levels in fish got you concerned, or just don’t get around
to eating fish twice a week? That’s where OneLife’s Something Smells
Fishy or Super Flaxseed + Greens comes in: Less expensive than fresh
fish, easier to ingest, and mercury levels not a concern.
